But that’s not all, our dedication to innovation has led us to develop two additional AI systems: ‘VP-Motion‘ for behavior analysis and ‘VP-Ergono‘ for Ergonomic Evaluation, originated from VisionPose. Our passion for these innovations continues to grow.

I’m very greatful for the itSeez3D scanning app, and recently I tried out a demo of a 3D avatar creation SDK developed by itSeez3D, which incorporates AI technology.

It allows you to create a 3D avatar from a single face photo, which is quite unusual among recent 3D avatar creation tools. However, I noticed that the avatars turns out to be cuter than the real person.

Realizing this, I felt a bit disappointed. I attempted to minimize the disparity between the avatars and reality by using various photos of my face. In the end, I ended up with some rather peculiar-looking faces, as you can see in the final part of the video.

Talk to Books



How do you find the book you want at a bookstore?

If you’ve already decided which book you want, you probably search by typing the title and author’s name into a search engine right?

But what if you’re not sure about the book you want?

In such cases, you’ll need to search for a book that catches your interest with litttle information.

Until now, people would often ask bookstore staff or librarians for help, but now, Google introduced a demo called ‘Talk to Books.’ With this demo, instead of using keywords, you can ask questions at the sentence level, and it will introduce books related to that sentence from among 100,000 books in Google Books.

For example, when you ask, How do you make sushi? you’ll be introduced to books that containing recipes and instructions for making sushi.

Let me to introduce the most exciting game that created the biggest buzz within our company using AI (machine learning): SEMANTRIS.

This is a game that can be played on a browser using semantic technology also used in Google search. Today, I tried the ARCADE version, and it’s surprisingly fun, reminiscent of Tetris.

The rules are simple! Just type words related to the specified word, and they’ll be arranged in order of relevance. The letters within the range will disappear. If the words pile up to the top, it’s game over.

※Writing related words that have the highest relevance to the specified word will make more words disappear.

By the way, the highest score achieved within our company was 3160 points.

Even those with vocabulary skills equivalent to junior high school students can enjoy this game. Nonetheless, you’ll need at least a basic understanding of English to comprehend the meanings of the words.

I tried creating it with NextSystem’s logo, and while it’s a simple design with just text and an icon, it turned out to be very stylish.

It’s called ‘Quick, Draw!’

In this mini-game, users have to draw the specified topic within a certain time and let the machine guess it. The game is won if the machine correctly guesses all six topics, which makes it quite fun.

By the way, the more you play, the smarter the artificial intelligence gets.

Scrying Pen

The mini-game ‘Quick, Draw!’ introduced earlier is a game where users draw pictures of specified topics and let the machine guess them.

Now, I’d like to introduce ‘Scrying Pen,’ a system that predicts the next line drawn by AI using the learning data collected from ‘Quick, Draw!’

The attached image is a drawing in progress of a cat, with the theme set as ‘cat’. The green lines represent the lines predicted by artificial intelligence (machine learning). You can see that the AI is attempting to draw the mouth and whiskers of the cat.

While it doesn’t particularly do anything special, but it might be interesting to know what kind of recognition artificial intelligence (machine learning) is performing.

AutoDraw



The ‘AutoDraw’ tool we’re introducing here is different from the ‘Scrying Pen’ system we mentioned earlier. AutoDraw goes a step further—it actually draws everything for you.

No matter how untalented a person may be at drawing, AutoDraw apparently recognizes what you’re trying to draw and suggests illustrations drawn by professional designers.

So, i decided to try it by asking one of our company’s employees, who admits to not being very good at drawing, to draw a ‘kangaroo’ and see if AutoDraw could guess what it was supposed to be.



Wow! This is awsome. Even though this drawing doesn’t really resemble a kangaroo, AutoDraw still estimated it correctly.

We also had them draw the ‘Statue of Liberty.’ This must be quite challenging for AI as well.

Let’s see…


It’s clear that the person who drew this is really bad at drawing. Hahaha…

When you search for images on the internet to use as wallpaper for your PC, you may find that some images cannot be set as wallpaper due to their size.

In such situations, I highly recommend waifu2x!

Although this tool has been around for several years, it’s a tool that uses AI to enhance the roughness of images and create smooth enlarged images. I recently found it, and it’s incredibly useful!

It used to be exclusively for illustrations, but recently, it seems that it has also been adapted for photos, making it even more convenient.

The image above has been enhanced using waifu2x to correct its low resolution, resulting in a noticeable improvement in smoothness.

So, why not give it a try when you’re struggling with the size of images?

Previously, I introduced ‘waifu2x,’ a tool that uses AI to enhance low-resolution images into larger and clearer ones. However, I discovered a similar tool called ‘Let’s Enhance‘ and decided to give it a try.

With ‘Let’s Enhance,’ you can process up to five images per day, and membership registration is required to download. However, if it can create better images than ‘waifu2x,’ it might be worth trying. So, I used both tools and compared the results, as shown in the image above. (Let’s Enhance uses a processing method called Magic.)

While ‘waifu2x’ provides a smoother and slightly blurred outline, ‘Let’s Enhance’ seems to have a clear outline but a slightly grainier texture…

It ultimately depends on personal preference. Which one do you prefer?

I’ll introduce you to ‘Giorgio Cam,’ an AI-powered rapper announced by Google, which I found quite interesting!

Click on ‘LAUNCH EXPERIMENT’ from the link below, and you’ll be greeted with cool music as well as synthesized male vocals delivering some catchy lyrics along with the music.

During the process, you’ll be instructed to take a picture with your camera. Once you’ve taken the picture, the AI will recognize objects in the image and start expressing lyrics tailored to those objects.

It’s impressive how this AI manages to rhyme so accurately!

Teachable Machine

You often hear about AI, but you’re not quite sure what it’s all about! Right?

To truly understand something, don’t you think it’s best to try it out rather than just hearing about it or seeing it?

Well, guess what? Even if you’re not an engineer, Google has made it possible for anyone to easily experience machine learning through a tool called ‘Teachable Machine‘ that runs right in your browser!

With this tool, all you have to do is simply capture images of things you want to teach (up to three types), and the system will recognize which one is shown and reflect different results based on what is captured. It’s amazing! And so easy to use!

Since it’s truly easy to experience with just simple clicks, I highly encourage everyone to try it out and have fun teaching various objects to be recognized by the system.
